Gears for Good charity bike rides raise awareness and funds for families living with bleeding disorders. All funds raised by riders support Hemophilia Federation of America’s Helping Hands program, which supports families with urgent funding to assist with basic living expenses such as housing, transportation, and utility bills.
Once again this year, Get Out and Go Tours will lead the group on this 3-Day, 156-mile charity bike ride from West Virginia to Washington, D.C.
We’ll meet at the Key Bridge Marriott in Rosslyn, VA, to begin the weekend of raising funds for Helping Hands. We’ll spend the next three days together, enjoying the C&O Canal and W&OD trails, the small towns that border them, and perhaps taking optional side-trips to Antietam National Battlefield in Sharpsburg, MD, and the Air and Space Museum Annex in Dulles, VA.
This year each cyclist is requested to raise a minimum of $1,000. HFA will provide you with all of the tools you need to, hopefully, exceed this goal! We understand that it is difficult asking for donations, so we are going to be sure to check in frequently on your progress and also be available to you for any questions you may have.
Key Bridge Marriott Room Block Information:
HFA has been able to secure a room block at the Key Bridge Marriott for our riders for Thursday, September 19 through Sunday, September 22 for $159/night. There is also discounted parking at the hotel for $10/night. You can book directly with the Key Bridge Marriott online here. This ride is fully supported with gear shuttle, lodging, meals, cue cards, and mechanical support - all included. This means you can ride the whole daily distance, or just a portion of it, without worry.
Hotel accommodations are included, and because of the high volume of people interested in riding, we ask riders to please consider rooming with someone else, to make room for other riders. We will travel through small towns with limited hotel space, so double occupancy allows us to have more riders, which means more money raised for Helping Hands.
